The purpose of our Nurture ministry area is to promote Christian formation through various educational programs and to provide a comprehensive congregational care plan, led by our laity, to meet the needs of families and individuals of all ages.
Our Christian education program seeks to foster growth through a variety of Sunday School classes for all ages and by offering long and short term Bible and topical studies throughout the year.
Powhatan United Methodist Church provides active children and youth ministries, and supports higher education through scholarships and acts of encouragement. We offer small group opportunities for fellowship and service through the Monday Night Circle, Circle of Friends, Just Older Youth, and the United Methodist Men’s group. Our Prayer Partners pray regularly for members and visitors to our Church and for those around the globe.
Powhatan United Methodist Church continually seeks to be a caring presence in the lives of all our members and friends, from the youngest infants who visit our nursery to the honored aging in nursing homes.
Please feel free to contact our Congregational Care Coordinator, Marie DeHart @ 598-0774 if you feel one of our nurture ministries in the right fit for you to serve Powhatan United Methodist Church.
Powhatan United Methodist Church's Monday Night Circle spread warmth and cheer to the members of our church and throughout the community in a multitude of ways.

The Joy Club provides those 55+ years old an opportunity for fun and fellowship. The Joy Club meets once a month. Please contact
Sally Marchand for more information.
Our inventory of shawls, lap robes and quilts is low, and we are working hard to build it back up once again. If you knit, crochet or quilt, the ministry could use your help. A long-term commitment is not required. Some women have made one shawl; some have made many more.
Please feel free to attend our meetings on the first Thursday evening of every month. Some attend occasionally or simply stitch at home.
Consider making a shawl, lap robe or lap quilt to share the warmth of God's love to those who are facing life altering events, such as an illness, birth of a child or loss of a loved one. For more information, contact Jane Rager at 598-3205 or email yogiscave@aol.com.
